Program: MASTER'S (AIT meeting state licensure board requirements)
Johns Hopkins University Department of Health Policy and Management offers a Master of Health Science in Health Finance and Management which prepares college graduates for entry and mid-level management positions in health care organizations. The size of the entering class is kept small (up to 20) in order to provide personal advising and field placement. The program requires an eleven-month paid, supervised field placement in a health care organization.

Although classes specifically in LTCA are not offered, students have the option of completing their field placements in a long-term care organization. Students who choose the option participate in the State of Maryland's AIT program and become licensed nursing home administrators after successful completion of the AIT program and National and Maryland State Standards nursing home administrator licensing exams.

The programs in gerontology include long term care courses, but no formal certification or program in long term care as such. Gerontology programs include an undergraduate gerontology minor and a gerontology certificate with two options: one for those pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a major in an area other than gerontology and one for those not pursuing a higher education degree.
