Program:
Long Term Care Administration Practicum The Long Term Care Administration Practicum is a 9 credit hour program offered at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students complete a total of 480 clock hours working directly with licensed nursing home administrators and are supervised by FHSU faculty. On-line discussions and readings enhance the learning environment. After successfully completing the program, students are eligible to sit for the state and national examinations and become licensed as nursing home administrators (must have a bachelor's degree for licensure).
Students may elect to complete a Master of Liberal Studies Degree with emphasis in gerontology or healthcare administration, or a Bachelor of General Studies Degree with concentration in gerontology to supplement the long term care administration practicum. The programs are available to distance learners through internet and video courses.

Approved by the Kansas Board of Regents in 1985, the emphasis in long-term care administration may be completed by both undergraduates and graduate students. Students completing the Emphasis are eligible to take the examination to become licensed as an Adult Care Home Administrator in Kansas.
Undergraduate study
The program is offered in conjunction with the Secondary Major in Gerontology, and may be combined with any disciplinary (departmental) major available at Kansas State University. The program may be completed in 30 credit hours. Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate Study
Students who already have earned a bachelor's degree may complete the Emphasis in Long-Term Care Administration in conjunction with the Graduate Emphasis in Gerontology, or as a non-degree program. The Graduate Emphasis may be combined with any graduate degree program available at Kansas State University.

Program: BACHELOR'S / CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
The Human Services Department offers a concentration in Adult Care Home Administration leading to a Baccalaureate of Applied Science degree. A Certificate of Completion consisting of 27 hours in specified coursework is also available for those students who have a bachelor degree. The Kansas Department of health & Environment requires a bachelor degree; successful completion of a 480-hour internship; and passing scores on state and federal examination to quality for Licensure as an Adult Care Home Administrator.
