Illinois Nursing Home Education Requirements:
Baccalaureate degree or two years qualifying experience or diploma nurse program (3 years); or completion of approved course in nursing home administration; or associate degree with two years qualifying experience.

Program: Associate, Certificate in Long-Term Health Care Management

Illinois Central College is a community college offering both the Associate in Applied Science Degree or a Certificate in Long-Term Health Care Management. This program is approved by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations for the satisfaction of the educational requirement for licensure as a long-term care facility administrator.

Certificate in Long-Term Health Care Management

The certificate program is intended primarily to prepare individuals who wish to pursue a career in long-term care administration. The long-term health care management certificate program is available on a continuing basis or students may take it on an intermittent basis.

Additional course work in each level requires course work from the accounting, aging process, business management, marketing, data processing, business communications, personnel management, ethics and humanities field. The degree program requires 64 semester hours minimum including the program core courses; the certificate requires 23 semester hours minimum including the program core courses.
