Florida Assisted Living: Administrator Overview
Be 21 and complete a core training program including 26 contact hours within 3 months of employment. 12 hours of continuing education every two years. Extended Congregate Care Facility administrators must have 2 years of experience in social work, management, recreation or counseling and do 6 hours of continuing education each year.

Program: BACHELOR'S, MASTER’s
Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management with a concentration in Long-Term Care Administration. The core curriculum has been approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations and the State Board of Nursing Home Administrators. Upon completion of the degree/concentration students qualify to sit for the licensure examination.

Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA): The Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) degree program is designed to meet the educational needs of both traditional and nontraditional students. Since classes are offered primarily during the evening hours, 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, this program is ideal for those individuals who wish to maintain their full-time employment while pursuing a graduate degree in health administration.  A minimum of 55 credit hours is distributed among the core, capstone and residency requirement.

Program
The University of North Florida's Department of Health Science has one undergraduate and two graduate programs that offer curriculum in Long-Term Care Administration. Graduates from these programs who have successfully completed a state mandated internship as part of their program of study are eligible to sit for the Florida Long-Term Care Administrator's Examination

Bachelors in Health Administration(BHA)
The primary goal of the health administration undergraduate program is to provide students with the entry skills needed by health administrators and management professionals. Students interested in long term care management may select course work and an internship that will allow them to qualify to take the Florida Nursing Home Administrator’s licensing examination. 

Master of Science in Health and Geriatric Management Specialization (MSH-GMS)
The Geriatric Management Program at the University of North Florida is designed to meet the needs of individuals interested in working with organizations that serve older adults. The program prepares graduates for entry-level management and administrative positions and enhances knowledge and skills of individuals already employed in the aging services field. The program consists of a minimum of 39 semester hours of course work that addresses biological, social, political, and management issues critical to the effective delivery of services to the elderly population.

The program (54 hour minimum) is designed for those individuals who want to work in the field of management and administration within a health care delivery setting.
