District of Columbia Nursing Home Education Requirements:
BA degree - 3 hours of credit required in accounting, human resources or personnel management, management, gerontology, health care law or health care ethics, and management of long term care institutions.

Program: MASTER'S
The George Washing University offers a Master of Health Services Administration Degree with concentration (field of instruction) in Management of Long-Term Care Services. The degree requires 54 semester hours of course work consisting of core courses, advanced courses, a concentration (or field of instruction, such as long-term care administration), and an administrative residency. The concentration in long term care administration consists of two courses:
HSMP 237 - Introduction to Long Term Care Management and
HSMP 255 - Gerontology.
The program may be completed in 15 months plus a one-year residency in a long term care facility. The university was founded in 1821, is private, non-sectarian, located in downtown Washington, DC near the White House.
