Program: CERTIFICATE, MASTER'S
The University of Connecticut offers both the M.B.A.-Health Care Management and a Certificate Program in Long-Term Care Management. Both have been approved by the state licensing board as the educational preparation needed for licensure.
The M.B.A. - Health Care Management Program
The M.B.A. program in Health Care Management consists of 57 credit hours leading to the M.B.A. degree. It integrates the content of a general business program with theoretical and applied studies specifically related to long-term health care management processes. The student meets all the requirements for the general M.B.A. degree as well as the specialization in long-term health care management. A 500 hour administrative residency must be completed.
Certificate Program in Long-Term Care Management
The Certificate Program in Long-Term Health Care Management is offered by the School of Business Administration for persons with bachelors or masters degrees, interested in pursuing careers in nursing home administration and meeting state licensure requirements. Twelve credit hours consisting of two basic components for individuals to meet licensure requirements are offered: a three credit course plus a 900 hours AIT program.

The University of New Haven, founded in 1920, is a fully accredited comprehensive university offering 25+ masters degree programs and 30+ graduate certificates. The long term care program is state approved. All students have passed the long term care certifying exams.
Students completing these concentration are eligible to take the nursing home licensure exam in Connecticut. Students take the core curriculum of 9 courses, four courses in long term care administration plus one elective.
