Prepare for the NAB Exam
Preparing to take the NAB exam and want to be as prepared as possible to pass the first time?
The two courses Long Term Care Education 201 (LTCE 201) and Long Term Care Education 202 (LTCE 202) are designed to prepare you for the 150 question national examination required by all states.
Do I Need these Courses? What is the national Pass Rate?
The national nursing home administrator exam is prepared and administered by Professional Examination Service, (PES) New York, NY for the NAB. Their data indicate that between 68% and 70% pass the national exam the first time. About 65% pass the exam on their second attempt. It gets worse from there. Depending on the version of the exam you get, 112 to 115 of the 150 items must be answered correctly to pass.

NAB exam questions are based on the assumption that you know the Federal Requirements and Guidelines to Surveyors in detail. The assignments in both courses are linked to the relevant sections of the Federal Requirements.

You've Passed 300 questions in this preparation program
----passing NAB's 150 questions ought to be achievable.....
When you have successfully finished taking LTCE 201 and 202 you have successfully passed 300 items (150 question final in each course) identical to the multiple choice one-best-answer format and the five subject areas of the national examination. You just successfully passed 300 questions, you should do well on the 150 question NAB exam....
National Acceptance of this Coursework....
One of every five states use either Dr. Allen's LTCE 201-202 from this website as preparation for licensure.
- New Jersey, Delaware, D.C., Idaho, Maryland, Wisconsin, Hawaii and North Carolina use these courses, LTCE 201-202, as meeting requirements to become a licensed nursing home administrator. Over the last 18 year span during which these courses have been offered licensure candidates who completed these courses have done well on the national exam.
How Much Will it Cost?
Individual fee for LTCE 201 is $294 (includes all documentation in downloadable form), fee for 202 is $294 (again, all documentation is in downloadable form).
Suggestion: it is best to enroll in both courses at the same time in order to better coordinate your learning in the five subject areas and your readiness for the NAB exam....
How Long Will it Take?
Depends on you.......you proceed at your own pace and time deadlines, ....but plan to take the NAB exam as soon as convenient after completing these courses.....there are 13 assignments in LTCE 201 and 12 assignments in LTCE 202.

How Will You Know When You are Likely Ready to Pass the NAB Exam?
To pass the NAB exam you need to have read widely in the field, know the NAB Domains of Practice and know the federal standards: i.e., the Federal Requirements and Guidelines to Surveyors.
You will have at least two feedback tools.
Score on LTCE 201, 202 Likely Readiness to Take the NAB Exam 70% to 77% correct answers Likely NAB score: 110-120
You need to study a lot more for NAB78% to 85% correct answers Likely NAB score 121-131
Some additional study is needed to pass86% or more correct Likely NAB score 131 or above
With a good final review you are ready!
